You Can Keep Your Plan Unless...

One of the problems with the Affordable Care Act is effecting millions that have good insurance that they LIKE, but cannot KEEP because it is considered a "Cadillac" plan that is "too good". This is exactly why the business portion was granted a 1 year waiver... because if both the under AND over insured would had collapsed at the same time it would have been a political and administrative time bomb that could have destroyed Obamacare. The media and jabbering politicians talk about how sure your crappy insurance was cancelled and you are buying a better plan at a higher price.... BUT you may be eligible for a subsidy. Not mentioning that it is a subsidy that is funded by those Americans that actually pay taxes. Or put another way, income redistribution.

Our situation is this... we have a great insurance policy that we LOVE. It saved us thousands of dollars during my daughters recent medical issues with 2 brain surgeries and surgery for two implant pacemaker type controllers. It was a blessing to have this great policy. It is one of the benefits that her great company offers to it's employees. During a recent enrollment period conference call discussing the changes coming with the ACA, the company announced that it will most likely not offer this premium plan to it's employees when the cadillac  tax penalty kicks in after 2014. ( That was delayed a year by the President ) So that means, that we have a plan we love that we will NOT be able to keep because it will cost her company MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in penalties each year to offer this plan which the government has determined to be TOO good.

Makes me furious when the media and progressive politicians do not talk about two things. One of those is, so who is really paying for the subsidy? The other is what happens a year from now when companies begin to cancel policies that people love because they apparently are too good for hard working Americans. This is flat out socialism folks, plain and simple. Wealth redistribution and government control over a very important aspect of the lives of all Americans.

While discussing this on Facebook, these were her comments about her story... "Scary is my word for it. So far our insurance is staying the same but my daughter only has until June to stay on our plan. She has just made the decision to change her major and go back to school full time. Don't see this remaining an option for her. She is either going to have to work full time in order to get ins through an employer or work more part time hrs to pay for the gov ins. Either way, going to school full time may not be an option."

Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee were called a wacko birds by a member of their own party for stating some of these very things during the speech of over 24 hours on the Senate floor. MSNBC  even called the shutdown the "Ted Cruz Shutdown". All because he was HONEST and stood true to his word while serving them. I feel that the shutdown was planned and carried out by Harry Reid and the Senate liberal progressives to distract the public and to find a scapegoat to blame for government failures on the debt and Obamacare. But in the end, all Americans are being hurt or know someone that is being harmed by this over reaching socialist legislation know as the "Affordable" Care Act.

I am so glad that a single male of ANY age is required to pay for Maternity Care. Which in itself is a form of wealth redistribution and yes that statement is true... every policy is required to cover maternity care... even for single men. Why does he feel there is a need to continue to have rallies with a backdrop of faces, nodding in agreement, in order to sell this disaster. Because they feel we are too stupid to know better. Well perhaps he should wake up because the people that normally spread the propaganda are now beginning to question it. Just watch Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, Jay Leno.

Watch this clip from a recent speech on 10/30/13 by President Obama. In this photo op campaign style rally ( Is he running again? ) he tries to wiggle out of his "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan" talking point that he spoke many times.

"By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise."

I Am A Republican And I ...

I have been thinking about this post for over a month and this weekend gave me the incentive to actually right it. Today's Liberal politicians and media pundents like to throw out claims like Republicans want to kill grandma and move women back in to the stone age. I am sure there are things I hear about Liberals that I tend to believe after hearing them many times regardless of the truth. I hope you read all of these and post your comments below!

I am a Republican and can admit that I am wrong some of the time. So this post is to counter common myths about Republicans and Conservatives. I hope you enjoy this sometimes light hearted and sometimes serious explanation of my Conservative beliefs that may surprise some. Most of these differ from common misconceptions and some conflict with the Republican party stance, but I am just being honest with you. Some of my conservative friends may see these differently, but that's okay. We are all Americans, let's act like it more often then.

I am a Republican and I own a rain barrel with plans to buy a few more! Water is precious and becoming expensive, plus the plants love rain water much more than tap water.

I am a Republican and I don't watch FoxNews! Have not watched it for about 7 months. I can do my own thinking and do my own research. Even when I did, it was not my main source of info. Oh and I don't even go to FoxNews.com, and while writing this, thought of how I have not even opened the FoxNews app on my phone in months, so I deleted it. After posting this photo, I realized that many of you liberals would get a chuckle out of what the iPhone said today...

I am a Republican and I compost. Because like many of these things, it's the right thing to do. Not because I am saving the planet but because it's free, good for the plants and easy to do. We even used old boards from the previous owner and built our own!

I am a Republican and I do NOT support the death penalty. I agree that we need deterrents to crime but I draw the line here. It really is pretty simple, in my heart, no matter how vile or evil the crime, the only entity that can decide to end a life is God and not the courts and not other imperfect humans.

I am a Republican and I believe that the planet may very well be warming. But do not believe that the cause is the human consumption of fossil fuels and other pollutants. I am pretty sure that the main controller of temperatures here on earth is our SUN. With solar flares being the main cause for spikes ( more like bumps ) in the earths "fever". The one question that never seems to get addressed by global warming enthusiasts is this... the earth has had 3 ice ages, pretty sure all of them happened before the invention of oil drill, the Ford Model A and coal burning. Yet what then ended the ice ages and warmed the planet if no SUV's and charcoal grills were around?

I am a Republican and I recycle, reduce and reuse. My town does not have curbside recycling but there is a recycle center that accepts most items and beginning this week (better late then never) we started our recycle bin. Cardboard, plastic, glass and any other material that we can send there instead of the landfill is sweet! Again because protecting the planet from unnecessary waste is the right thing to do, not because it will save the planet from pending doom, but it's nice to leave it as clean as you found it!

I am a Republican and through the G.W. Bush presidency, I never thought he was doing a great job. He did protect us after the horror of 9/11 and helped get the country through tough times but other than that he was pretty much horrible. Spent WAY too much money, grew the government too large and did nothing but harm the battle towards ILLEGAL immigration. I guess I could also say he was a man of his word and wore his faith on his sleeve. You can disagree with his words and beliefs but he stood by his heart.

I am a Republican and I support equal right for gay individuals and couples! How can conservatives complain about personal freedom limits with healthcare or government regulations, yet not offer everyone the same and equal freedoms to ALL Americans? Hypocrites? Perhaps this group says it the best. Log Cabin Republicans - "We are loyal Republicans. We believe in limited government, strong national defense, free markets, low taxes, personal responsibility, and individual liberty.... We also believe all Americans have the right to liberty and equality.... Opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOP's core principles of smaller government and personal freedom."
See my previous post regarding gay marriage for more thoughts, from this Kansan.

Not "By The People" anymore...

It's more like, Congress will determine what is best "For The People" without our voice being heard. Or at least I hope it was heard, it seems it was just not a part of the decision making process in regards to the health care reform that they are forcing on us this weekend.

You all have heard that the majority of Americans don't want this..... I can think of so many reasons and maybe the most important has nothing to do with doctors, nurses, insurance companies or patients..... We're BROKE !! And this is going to cost OVER 1 trillion dollars over 10 years for only 6 years of benefits. What happens after the 10 years is up...... think about it.

I feel very helpless in this world at the moment. Our fate is being decided by congressional members that do not even have to answer to my state. It's March 20, there is about 4 inches of snow on the ground in Kansas, and this winter has such a tight hold on me that I feel compressed and in a way silenced and meaningless.

I have a job, good health, great family, a home, a wonderful wife and I live in America....

Why does that last one seem less important today..... it didn't have to be like this.
